With a group of ladies at church, I am going through Kay Arthur's study, Lord,I Just Want to Know You. While I've studied the names of God before, it's hitting me this time with a fresh awareness of how important it is that we know God's names so we will know His character.
This week we've studied Him as El Shaddai, the All-Sufficient One, and Adonai, the Master. Kay Arthur talks of how these names go together, how submitting to Christ as my Master will bring me to the point of recognizing Him as enough for every empty place in my heart. " You will never know His sufficiency apart from knowing Him as Lord, as Master, " she writes, "Commitment to the will of God should be the norm for every one of His children."
If I'm committed to His will more than I'm committed to getting my way, I'm find Him always sufficient.
As I chew on this, Psalm 16:2 becomes my 3rd memory verse for the Siesta Scripture Memory Team:
Be blessed,
Ginger

ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to do a Kay Arthur study. I will have to put that on my list once I finish the Beth Moore study I'm working on. Beautiful picture and verse!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture and Scripture. I love the font you used. It goes so well with the flowers. Powerful message as well.
ReplyDeletePlease come and join me at Stillness Sunday to link as well.

I'm reading a book about praying the names of Jesus at the moment. Ha! Wonderful stuff.
ReplyDeleteAt the moment the one that has my attention is Jehovah Rapha: The God who heals. My 'One word' for 2013 is 'Heal' and He is giving me so much to think about.
Jeremiah 17:14 'Heal me and I will be healed, save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise'. Amen
Thanks Ginger.
